Community
I have been a resident of Crook County for 25 years. It is a wonderful area to raise a family with excellent schools and many extracurricular activities available to our youth, including 4H, sports, and just enjoying the outdoors.
Prineville is a Great Place to Call Home
With a population of over 10,000 residents, Prineville is located in the heart of Oregon in Crook County and enjoys as many or more days of sunshine as any location in the state. Nestled in a valley surrounded by sloping rimrocks, Prineville is a growing, close-knit community with a history of ranching, logging, and Les Schwab Tires. Facebook and Apple data centers now call Prineville home and support numerous educational initiatives. Crook County School District has 3,200 students and over 500 full- and part-time staff members. There are three elementary schools located within the city: Barnes Butte Elementary, Crooked River Elementary, and Steins Pillar Elementary. Crook County Middle School, Crook County High School, and Pioneer Alternative High School serve students in 6th-12th grades. The district also offers a hybrid program called Grizzly Mountain Homelink and two rural schools serving Paulina & Brothers.
Prineville is a growing town with a big heart, offering a welcoming atmosphere that boasts a strong sense of pride and commitment to family values. Prineville offers numerous community events throughout the year, including farmers’ markets, holiday parades, and rodeos. There’s always something to do and people to connect with. With its strong relationship between residents and local law enforcement, affordable housing, and lower-than-average cost of living, Prineville is a premier location to raise a family.
